Gantt Chart ( Gantt Chart ) – Schedule

Gantt charts are useful for planning and scheduling projects.  They help to assess how long a project should take, determine the resources needed, and plan the order in which the user can complete tasks.  They are also helpful for managing the dependencies between tasks.

The Gantt chart page can be accessed by clicking the Gantt Chart radio button in

Simulations –> Gantt chart

The Gantt chart page contains two sections: Task details section and Gantt chart DHTMLX.  The task details section shows all the tasks that are imported through the Import page.  The Task detail section allows the user to edit the Task Names for those with Read/Write access given to the page.  The Gantt chart section provides the view to the Gantt chart generated on the task values and lets the user to add, delete lag values and also add or delete the links connected to each tasks

Editing Task Details:

Steps:

  1. Gantt chart —>Select any Tasks by clicking on Task Section or Gantt chart section. (Figure 1)
  2. A pop up appears.  (Figure 2)
  3. Make the necessary changes of the task info and click SAVE to save the info or CANCEL to close the pop up. ( Figure 2)

Undo:

If user makes any changes in the task section it can be undone using Undo option (Figure 3)

Redo:

To reverse the last Undo action can be done using Redo option (Figure 4)

 Expand All WBS:

All the WBS in Gantt chart section can be expanded and viewed fully using Expand All WBS option (Figure 5)

 Collapse All WBS:

All the WBS in Gantt chart section can be collapsed fully using Collapse All WBS option (Figure 6)

 Expand Selected WBS:

Particular WBS can be selected and expanded using Expand Selected WBS option (Figure 7)

Collapse Selected WBS:

Particular selected WBS which was expanded can be collapsed using Collapse Selected WBS option (Figure 8)

Show Critical Path:

Critical Path can be highlighted in Gantt chart section by clicking on Critical Path (Figure 1) which displays as Show Critical Path option (Figure 9)

 Hide Critical Path:

The Highlighted critical path (Figure 9) can be hidden using Hide Critical Path (Figure 9) which hides the critical path (Figure 10)

Zoom in:

Zoom in option helps the user to zoom in the Gantt chart view (Figure 11)

Zoom out:

Zoom out option helps the user to zoom out the Gantt chart view (Figure 12)

Zoom to Fit:

Helps the user to view the Gantt chart fully fit format than viewing it by expanding the page (Figure 13)

Sort:

Individual column fields can be sorted by clicking on sort option respectively (Figure 14)

Lag Add/Delete Option:

User can increase/decrease the lag values also link can be added/deleted of the task by clicking on the particular task in Gantt chart view section (Figure 15)

Filter:

This functionality is used to filter the data according to the tasks name or id being typed in search bar and it displays the filtered results. (Figure 17)

Import Uncertainties from Excel File:

Minimum, Most Likely, Maximum values for N no of tasks can also be imported to the Gantt chart using Import Uncertainties from Excel File option and only Excel files can be imported here.

Steps:

  1. Gantt Chart —>Click Import Uncertainties from Excel File option (Figure 18)
  2. Browse Excel file and click IMPORT VALUES (Figure 19)
  3. Shows the summary of Minimum , Most Likely , Maximum values updated for the tasks and also tasks details whose values are not updated and ones Gantt chart page is refreshed the new Minimum, Most Likely, Maximum will be updated for that particular set of tasks (Figure 20)
  4. User can download the summary of the tasks updated by clicking on Download summary (Figure 20)
